Job summary:
The Treasury Services Officer supports the day-to-day delivery and control of client treasury services. The role is responsible for accurate and timely processing, cash and liquidity monitoring, maintenance of treasury records, and preparation of operational and management information. Working closely with the Head of Treasury and colleagues across client service, finance, compliance and operations, the role helps ensure that client cash is placed and administered in line with approved mandates, internal policies, delegated authorities and applicable regulatory requirements.
Job accountabilities:
> Treasury operations and dealing: Process approved deposits, approved short-term cash placements, foreign exchange transactions and other treasury instructions accurately and within agreed cut-off times.
> Cash and liquidity monitoring: Monitor cash balances, expected inflows and outflows, settlement positions and near-term liquidity requirements, escalating shortfalls, unusual movements or access-to-cash concerns promptly.
> Client instructions and controls: Check that instructions are complete, properly authorised and within approved mandates, limits and delegated authorities before execution. Maintain clear evidence of approvals and maker-checker controls.
> Settlements and reconciliations: Track transactions through to settlement, investigate breaks or failed payments, and support timely reconciliation of bank, custody, dealing and internal records.
> Counterparty and account administration: Maintain accurate static data, account details, approved counterparty, bank account and cash-placement records, dealing documentation, signatory information and supporting due-diligence records.
> Monitoring and management information: Prepare daily and periodic treasury information, including balances, maturities, yields, exposures, liquidity positions, exceptions and other data required for oversight and governance reporting.
> Risk, policy and limit monitoring: Monitor counterparty exposures and approved limits across the treasury portfolio in accordance with the strict treasury policy, and promptly identify and escalate breaches, concentrations or other operational, liquidity, conduct, fraud, information-security or regulatory concerns.
> Group engagement and service opportunities: Build effective relationships with colleagues across the Group, respond professionally to treasury-related queries and help identify existing or potential clients who may benefit from treasury services, ensuring any engagement is appropriately authorised.
> Client onboarding: Support the onboarding of new treasury clients by coordinating with Group colleagues, gathering required information and documentation, maintaining accurate records and ensuring that approvals, due diligence and account set-up requirements are completed before services commence.
> Process improvement: Help maintain procedures, checklists and controls; contribute to system, data-quality and workflow improvements; and support testing and implementation of approved changes.
> Business continuity and team support: Maintain orderly records and effective handovers, provide cover for core treasury activities where trained and authorised, and support business continuity arrangements.
Minimum education and experience
> Previous treasury experience is helpful but not essential. Applications are welcomed from candidates who can demonstrate transferable skills gained through education, banking, payments, finance, administration, customer service or another controlled working environment.
> A good standard of general education, with strong numeracy, written English and a willingness to learn treasury processes and controls.
> Willingness to undertake relevant training and, where appropriate, work towards a professional qualification such as the ACT Certificate in Treasury or an equivalent operations qualification.
> Experience following procedures, checking information carefully or maintaining accurate records is desirable and may have been gained through work, study, volunteering or other relevant activities.
> Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 applications is desirable; training on treasury, banking and other relevant systems will be provided.
Required skills
> High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when handling payment, settlement and account information.
> Ability to organise competing priorities, meet dealing and payment cut-off times, and follow tasks through to completion.
> Strong numerical, analytical and reconciliation skills, with confidence investigating differences and exceptions.
> Clear and professional written and verbal communication.
> Sound judgement and a willingness to escalate issues promptly rather than work around a control.
> Understanding of confidentiality, client money responsibilities, operational risk, fraud prevention and the importance of complete records.
> Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively with colleagues across different teams and jurisdictions.
> Curiosity and a practical mindset for improving processes, controls and data quality.
Additional information about the role
> The role may require flexibility around bank, payment and market cut-off times and support during periods of high transaction activity.
> Authority to transact or release instructions is subject to training, competency assessment, approved mandates and the applicable delegated authority framework.
> This job description outlines the principal responsibilities of the role and may be updated to reflect changes in services, systems, regulation or business requirements.
